Bezanson Hill Gone Missing

The monster came back and stole Bezanson Hill! Well, actually he didn't steal it he just compacted it back into the ground around our new basement walls. The basement still doesn't have any cement in it, but I feel they should be getting ready to do that anytime now. I guess they will haul off the excess dirt now since there is still a lot out there. As for the grass... we may not be able to grow grass in a big area until spring. By the time they get done with this project we may close to the end of summer. We can actually go out the back door now, but its still like a 1 1/2 ft. drop to the ground.

Tomorrow it is supposed to be really cold and we now have a big hole in the wall downstairs. I didn't know they were coming to work today so it came as a shock when I was laying in bed and heard a knock on the door. I jumped out of bed and was trying frantically to put something on that was suitable to answer the door in. I was just putting my shorts on and grabbing the handle to the bedroom door when I heard someone walking across the living room floor yelling, "Is anybody home?" It was Glenn the guy we hired to do all of our lovely projects around the house. He wanted to come down to the room where they were cutting the door for the new room. Today was the day they planned on pushing the concrete out of the wall. Now we have no window and all that is left is the wood paneling and insulation. Since we are having a bit of a cold spell we will have to figure out a way to keep the cold out and hope they do something with it soon.

Who knows when I will have more information to post so until next time... enjoy!

Don't Touch Me!

Today I went in for another prenatal visit to my doctor. Dr. Gatherum was dealing with an emergency so some of his helper nurses were taking care of his appointments while he was gone. Things went as usual with taking a urine sample, blood pressure, measuring my belly and other things but today was different in kind of a funny way. When they put the thing on my abdomen to listen to the heartbeat (I don't know what it's called, but it's not a stethoscope. They use the goo and its similar to the ultrasound thing, but it amplifies the heartbeat through a speaker so everyone can hear it.) she was having difficulty picking it up. She'd find it and he would move or there would be a lot of other noise. You could hear thumping noises and we discovered that our baby was hitting or kicking the place where he could feel the pressure. It made it difficult to get a BPM reading, but we all thought it was funny. He just wasn't going to cooperate. We finally got a reading and everything was normal (162 BPM). He has a good strong heartbeat. It was just funny to think that he was so against us finding out his heart rate. From the ultrasound and this time around checking his heart rate, we can tell that he will most likely have a stubborn streak to him. During the ultrasound he was curled up in a ball making it hard to get measurements or tell what gender he is. He also kept moving around a lot.

Two Days In A Row... Wow...

First of all I would like to start off by telling a story about an obnoxious neighbor kid. We caught some kid that I don't know out in our backyard throwing rocks into the hole that had just had the footings poured that morning. Latonya, our neighbor caught him when she went to look out our back window and pounded on the window. Her and my mom ran outside and started yelling at the kid and telling him that he is to never go into our backyard again. They also told him how much the cement costs to replace and asked him if he had that much money to repair any damage. Then my mom got into the hole and started picking the rocks up off the cement and noticed that he had put a dent in it with one of the rocks. Luckily it didn't cause any serious damage other than a slight dent.
The next day I was impressed when I was laying in bed and heard a bunch of noise outside. This was a sign that the workers had come back for a consecutive day of work. Usually we only see them about once a week. When I looked out the window I realized that they had set the molds for the walls so they could pour them. After they were done I went out and took some pictures. Later today after I took this picture, they came and took down the molds. Now we have a cement wall with bars sticking out of it.

If you look closely at the picture below you can see around the window where they have started cutting a hole for the door. This was done last week but I just got around to taking a picture of it today. It only goes all the way through the wall in a few places.

Here is a picture of the inside where some of the cuts go all the way through. At the right angle you can actually see daylight through them. There is also one on each side at the bottom too. We keep the door to this room closed all the time. It smells funny and sometimes we can feel the cold air coming through.

That's all I have for now. Hopefully I will be able to post more progress soon. Every time I say things are picking up I don't see anybody doing anything for like a week.

Wednesday... Apparently The New Last Week's Thursday...

Once upon a time there were some workers in our backyard that said they were going to set the footings for a concrete pour on Thursday, May 8th. Well, Apparently Wednesday, May 14th is the new May 8th because they are finally pouring concrete! I didn't dare sneak outside to take pictures (still in pajamas) so I tried to take some through the window. Sorry they aren't very good. There are reflections and the windows were really dirty because of the rain storm and we have no way of cleaning them right now. It doesn't really matter though. They are going to be taken out anyways. Hope you can at least see what's going on.

The Envelope Please

Yesterday I was stuck in the hospital from 9:45 to 1:45. It felt so long I wanted to die. The worst part was that I had to go by myself. As most of you know I was called back in to do a 3 hour glucose test after I failed my first one. When I showed up at the lab they told me they had to take a fasting blood sample. They ran it down to the lab and had them check it before they even started the glucose test. After they got the go ahead from my doctor they gave me the drink. This time it was lemon lime flavored and resembled sprite. It also had twice as much glucose in it than the orange one. I will say that the lemon lime one was worse because I didn't have anything in my stomach and it haunted me the whole time I was there. When they gave me the drink they told me to let them know if I started feeling sick and they would put me in a room so I could lay down. Unfortunately I had to take advantage of that offer. Almost an hour after taking the drink I almost threw up. I told the girl and she took me into one of the drawing rooms that had a bed since they were about to call me back anyways for my first drawing of the test. After they took my blood they took me into another room and I laid down the last 2 hours of the test. Luckily I never threw up. Whenever it was time for them to draw my blood they would come into my room and take it. Sometimes if I didn't feel like sitting up they would take it while I was laying down. I just read my parenting magazine the whole time. I look like a bruised human needle cushion now. The last time they drew my blood the lady used the same vein that they used two days before and she couldn't get it to start sucking up blood. She told me I'd have a really big bruise on that arm because she kept moving the needle around and threatened to have to poke me again. Luckily it started doing it's job so I only got poked 5 times instead of 6. That is counting the poke from my first test. After the test was done I went home and ate feeling quite tortured. Well, today I got the results back and I am happy to inform you all that I do not have gestational diabetes. I guess I really did sabotage myself when I ate those fruity pebbles before the first one. I am happy about that and really excited to be able to let my arms heal and not be poked again for a while.

King Of Bezanson Hill

I guess the monster liked the dirt in our backyard because it's back. Today I really thought the house was going to crumble to the ground. All it did from around 8:00 to around 3:00 is shake the ground and everything around it with the help of it's buddy (the compactor). They had to wait for the soil test to come back before they could do any more work back there so that is why we went several days without them being back there. Today they widened the hole and made it deeper. They had to dig deeper so that they could compact the dirt to make it more sturdy to build on. Tomorrow they should be ready to pour the concrete in the hole.

I saw them lower a guy into the hole using the bucket of the tractor. It was really cool. We couldn't resist sneaking out to take some pictures. After that we went in and sat at the kitchen table to watch them through the window. They were putting some more dirt in the hole to compact when we felt the house shake. We then realized what had happened. As the guy went to dump the bucket of dirt he accidently hit the house. It startled us but didn't cause any harm to the house. Life is never dull around here with them working on the yard.

This is a rock they dug out of the hole. It looks small in the picture, but if you look closely it is sitting between the tracks that the tractor made getting up to the backyard. I should have put the car in the background to have something to compare it with size wise, but the tracks in the dirt will have to work. They are pretty big so you can imagine the rock is pretty big too. Well, that's all for now, but I will keep posting since I think things should be moving along a lot faster now.

By Popular Demand

Many people have requested these pictures and I have taken my time putting them up, but it was all for a good reason. I was just waiting a little longer so you'd really have something to look at. The shirt I'm wearing Shane insisted that I get because he thought it was so cool. I was not so sure about it at first but after going out in public with it on a couple of times I have decided that people really like it. So after such a long wait... Drum roll please... Tada!

I just now realized that the second one is a little blurry. Sorry about that. At least you get the point. Well, that's all for now.

The Longest Doctors Appt. Only Getting Longer

Yesterday I had my doctors appointment and everything went great there. They gave me a lab order sheet and said I needed to go have a glucose test done. They also informed me that it would take an hour and I couldn't leave the hospital so pick a time when I could stay for a while. Well I was open so I went on down to the lab and started the test. They made me drink this glucose drink that was carbonated and tasted just like an orange soda. This is where it started to get long. I had to sit in the waiting area for an hour so that they could draw my blood an hour after I drank the drink. I read some magazine articles, watched the clock, read some more, texted Shane, and ran into a lady from my old ward and talked to her for a little bit. Finally they called me in and they poked me with a needle. (shudders) I hate needles! They called me today with my results and I knew it was bad news when they didn't say everything was fine in the voice mail they left. I called them back and found out that the results came back high and they would have to have me do a longer test. This one I have to eat dinner, fast all night, and go in the next morning. They will make me drink the "orange soda" and then draw blood every hour for 3 hours starting the hour after i drink it. I hope everything goes well. If not, I guess I will have to live with the fact that I have gestational diabetes. Then I will have to make a lot of changes to my eating habits. I guess it didn't help much that I ate 2 bowls of fruity pebbles 2 hours before I went in to see the doctor. That was like 3 1/2 hours before they drew my blood though. I will put up an update when I get my new results. I'm planning on doing the test tomorrow morning. That way I should know by Thursday.
